Stories from Chris McQueer's bestselling collection Hings have been adapted for the BBC, and will be available on the iPlayer in on 9th May! You’ll get to see Sammy and his battle with the whelks, a grim trip on the night bus and a shift swap go wrong all in front of your very eyes.

The Bag of Whelks story kicks off my first book and it's the one that draws people into my style of writing and dialogue, so it felt right to do it first. Shiftswap, I could see when I was writing it as a short film, really quick cuts and montages. I thought that would be great fun. And Nightbus is fucking disgusting. I just wanted to see how we could recreate that!

Read all about the new adaptations on Glasgow Live’s exclusive interview with Chris.

If you’ve somehow still not read Hings (how behind are you) then fix that by getting your copy ASAP so you’re all clued up before it’s on the telly.
