404 In(k)ternship WINS FutureBook Award!

Remember when we said it’s cool to be shortlisted for an award recognising our internship scheme? Well, it’s only gone and won!

Jointly with Orion Books, our virtual internship - which was accessible, remote, paid, and tailored - has won the FutureBook Team Award.

When presenting the award, Emma Lowe said, "The teams we heard from on the shortlist had all understood what it meant to take a group of people who work together, turn that group into a team and then create something special. Our joint winners had done similar things in different environments. Both teams though had the aim of opening the world of publishing up to as many voices as possible, enabling them to belong."

We really hope to be able to continue our internship scheme in future: we think it’s so valuable and has radically reconsidered how these could be approached - there’s so much potential to make things more open for people looking to enter the industry, and hopefully this recognition is a first step to making the case for longer-lasting change.

We didn’t send a pre-recorded speech because we figured there was no chance, and yet… Thank you, Futurebook.
